Toshiba Satellite L655-S5156 15.6-Inch LED Laptop (Grey)

I bought my Satellite 15 months ago & have loved it until weeks ago when the three USB ports on the right-hand side came loose & fell inside. I took the computer to a repair shop & was told this is a common issue with Toshiba laptops due to the weld Toshiba makes use of for the ports; they could not repair it but could send it in to Toshiba for repair -- at a cost of $400! I contacted Toshiba & was told that since I was one time two months out of warranty, they could repair it, but it would cost me \.\. $400! In the event you go online & search for Toshiba USB Port issues, you will discover a slew of people that have experienced the same issue with their Toshiba laptops, even current year models. Save your money & buy a different brand of laptop computer.

Toshiba has always built, what I think about, a top quality product.

This laptop computer was bought to assist me in day-to-day tasks associated with my job.
I currently work in the IT field and need a stable, working, fast laptop computer to assist me with repairs.

This laptop computer is no different.

For the cost, the Intel Core i3 processor delivers.
After removing most of what I think about "bloatware", there wasn't a whole lot, the computer ran as rapid as it would have with a fresh install of Windows 7.

The fan noise, as some have reported, has not been an issue for me at all.

The screen is bright an vivid.
The keyboard is excellent.
The mouse pad feels nice, you can always tell you are on it thanks to the grainy matte finish.
The laptop computer is surprisingly light for a 15" screen.

If you are thinking about a brand spanking new laptop computer for everything but gambling, this is an excellent product.
I recommend Toshiba against any other laptop computer brand.

I have had this computer for about 6 months now. I love the giant display, the keyboard has a lovely feel to it, it is fast for my MS Office and web needs, and the battery life is acceptable for my usage. (about hours on an overnight charge.)

That being said, after trying plenty of different ways of troubleshooting this thing, I still have serious issues with the way the cursor jumps all over the place. Letters, correspondence, electronic mail, etc. are an extreme challenge since there does not appear to be a permanent fix to this issue. I bought this laptop computer because it had lovely ratings, needed space, and the portability of a laptop computer that had a display that I could read. Now, I have it attached to a separate mouse, so I am not using the touchpad at all. Still, the keyboard is so sensitive to my heavy key presses, that it interprets it as something else and jumps to some other part of the screen at random, leading to typos and often ends in some text disappearing. With word processing I can at least redo the last edits, but with electronic mail or blogs, it is hard having to edit or re-type very every other sentence. So far to type this much has taken me about 18 minutes...and I am a respectable typist.

If not, possibly I'll must get another computer that I hope will work better.

I am tempted to try and attach a separate keyboard to this, but I figure if by attaching a separate mouse has not helped the issue, getting a separate keyboard probably won't do me any lovely either, not to mention take up more space on my already crowded table...
