The display unit on this laptop computer is bright and detailed at 1600 by 900 dpi. Videos and pics are shown with beautiful detail. I tested the unit with a DVD film, but not with a Blu-ray video. It ran fine with full motion, showing lovely detail and natural colors. There was not any blurring around the edges of images that you sometimes see in older laptops.

With 8GB of memory, a quad core i7-2630QM processor, and a sleek 17.3 inch HD LED display unit, this is speedy laptop computer at a value cost. Out of the box, I had this up and jogging in a couple of minutes, and thankfully there was only a small amount of "bloatware" to remove.

For comparison purposes, the Windows Experience Index is: processor, 7.4; memory, 7.6; graphics, 6.6; gambling graphics, 6.6; and primary hard disk, five.9. With dual drives, it is feasible to swap out the boot drive for a smallish solid state drive and significantly speed up the primary hard disk. But for the moment, short of buying an pricey "gaming machine," this is a smartly engineered and speedy laptop computer for its cost.

This laptop computer is sleek looking in steel grey, and is lightweight and narrow looking. The advertised battery life is "up to ten.25 hours," which was about two times the amount of time that I actually got. Still, this is allot longer than the hours or so that I was getting with my earlier computer.

I bought this for my spouse as a Xmas present. Installed MS Office, moved her e mail, etc. I noticed that it appeared to space out now and then ("Not Responding" in any folder or program window), but I put it down to Windows 7 walking on a comparatively low-powered machine. Well, the freezes became more frequent, so I called HP. After numerous process restores, disk and memory tests, and other diagnostics, They had me send it in for repair. two weeks later, it is back with the CPU replaced. Same issue, immediately. Back to HP, two more weeks, motherboard replaced--same issue. Now it is been another couple of weeks. HP says they are "building" me a replacement, but cannot tell me when it might arrive. I'll update if/when resolved.

I bought this laptop computer a few weeks ago for my older brother as her b day gift, he is an avid computer user (work, e-mail, word, net etc). He is happy along with her laptop computer. I have the Toshiba M-645, my computers does perform better than her laptop computer in areas such as sound, multimedia, size/weight, battery efficiency, processor and a few other things, However, not by much. I bought mine for around 1000, and for 480$, hers laptop computer is fast and can keep up with my laptop computer in speed, multimedia, and a few other areas. As for sound, Eh, hers could be a lot better, definitely not as lovely as the M-645. In case you do need to listen to lots of music or view movies, i recommend you ought to select up a speaker set from Harman/Kardon, JBL, or Klipsch computer speakers speakers. He's lots of storage for pics, movies, games, etc. He doesn't complain about noise. I would definately recommend this product overall for a laptop computer at this cost, you will be amazed and satisfied at how much it can do for a budget laptop computer, in case you are an average casual computer user then this is a great  for your buck! buy it, you  certainly wont regret it, even makes as a great gift.
