Toshiba Satellite L655-S5158 15.6-Inch Laptop (Black)

Toshiba Satellite L655-S5158 15.6-Inch Laptop (Black)

I bought this laptop computer a few weeks ago for my older brother as her b day gift, he is an avid computer user (work, e-mail, word, net etc). He is happy along with her laptop computer. I have the Toshiba M-645, my computers does perform better than her laptop computer in areas such as sound, multimedia, size/weight, battery efficiency, processor and a few other things, However, not by much. I bought mine for around 1000, and for 480$, hers laptop computer is fast and can keep up with my laptop computer in speed, multimedia, and a few other areas. As for sound, Eh, hers could be a lot better, definitely not as lovely as the M-645. In case you do need to listen to lots of music or view movies, i recommend you ought to select up a speaker set from Harman/Kardon, JBL, or Klipsch computer speakers speakers. He's lots of storage for pics, movies, games, etc. He doesn't complain about noise. I would definately recommend this product overall for a laptop computer at this cost, you will be amazed and satisfied at how much it can do for a budget laptop computer, in case you are an average casual computer user then this is a great  for your buck! buy it, you  certainly wont regret it, even makes as a great gift.

pros:
one. fast processor
two. memory
three. hard drive
four. hdmi
five. HD widescreen is clear compared to other laptops
five. numerical key pad
cons:
one. fingerprint magnet (get a microfiber cloth)
two. battery life is around three hours. could be better.
three. so-so sound

Toshiba Satellite L655-S5158 15.6-Inch Laptop

I think you'll be satisfied with this. Plug it in and you are lovely to go after the usual housekeeping chores. You will spend time updating and deleting trials and bloat-ware. Toshiba recomends updating the BIOS. This is not in my playpen but the method was well expalained and no giant deal.

Fundamentally, this comes as advertised. Great keyboard with ten key. Lots of storage and memory. Speedy to do what needs to get done if you are not hooked on high power games. Of coursework, the speaker quality is marginal but better then most in this cost range.

Be aware that this thing's finish is a shiney black finger print grabber. I don't care but you might. Also, you will spend lots of time transfering files to an outside hard drive by the installed USB two.0 port. If that is an issue for you, search for a laptop computer with USB two.0 installed. The installed eSATA/USB port is useless unless your outside hard drive has its own power source. Best of luck.

Toshiba Portege R835-P56x 13.3-Inch LED Laptop (Magnesium Blue) (Personal Computers)

Toshiba Portege R835-P56x 13.3-Inch LED Laptop (Magnesium Blue)
The touchpad was *kinda* odd, but I got used to it quickly (have had the machine for about five weeks now). Another reviewer commented on the scrolling, & has a solution posted as well. After a couple hours of use, I have no issue using the touchpad (have even played Portal five a bit with it).

The keyboard is a tiny loud, sure, but aside from that it is ideal. I have always liked the elderly IBM clicky keyboards. Typing on this reminds me of those, which I think is awesome.

The performance is amazing, the only thing slowing it down is the hard drive. I have SSDs in my other machines, so the difference is apparent to me. I'll pick up an SSD & make this the ideal tiny laptop computer.

Battery life is as advertised. I took it in to work day & downloaded all of Portal five, OpenSUSE 11.4 ISO, & Office, all while doing normal browsing with max brightness. I proceeded to burn & install OpenSUSE, & the battery still lasted roughly 6.5 hours. I was five times impressed.

I mentioned above that I played Portal five on it, yup! Works better than I expected, the sandy bridge i5 is a beast!

The screen is definitely bright. I used it in a automobile with sunlight coming through the window with no issues. As most, I'd prefer a matte screen, but any glare on this is barely noticeable, I didn't even give it some thought while using it in the sun. I mention it because I read a ThinkPad review that had me thinking about it.

I have already recommended this laptop computer to relatives & friends, it is definitely worth a glance if you are in the market.
